Vacation Bible School at St. Louis Catholic Church has become an event that is looked forward to by participants and volunteers, alike. It utilizes a unique approach that takes VBS "out of the classroom" and gives the children activity stations to travel to.

Those stations for 2004 will include the Sing & Play Bay, the Crater Crafts & Missions, the Hot Bible Adventures, the Tropical Treats, and the Island Games.

The other unique approach is to combine children into mixed age groups, or island crews, and move from station to station in those crews. It proved exciting and educational for all the children. The older ones take natural leadership roles and the younger participants take their cues about behavior and participation from the older.

Important Points for 2004 VBS at SLCC:

  • Dates:  June 14th thru June 18th, 2004
  • Times:  6:00 pm until 8:30 pm
  • Food: Children will be fed a snack supper
  • Younger Ages: Children who will enter Pre-K and Kindergarten in the Fall of 2004 will participate in their OWN crews at "CoCo's Playhouse"
  • Older Ages: Children who will enter first grade through sixth grade in Fall of 2004 will participate in mixed-age Island Crews.
  • Teens: Seventh and Eighth graders are encouraged to volunteer to help out at the various stations. Teens can be crew leaders, but must be at least 14 years of age when VBS begins on 6/14/04.
  • Registration: Pre-registration will begin on May 1, 2004 and is requested. Children who pre-register will receive a free Lava Lava Island T-Shirt at VBS.
  • Drop-Off: Children should be dropped off outside the Pastoral Center at St. Louis Catholic Church
  • Pick-Up: **IMPORTANT** Children will all gather in the gym to close VBS each day. Parents must come in to pick-up their children at the gym. This is for safety reasons and there are no exceptions.
